Final Islamic Revolution in Bangladesh: Major Obstacles and What We Must Do

There are several especially difficult obstacles standing in the way of a final Islamic revolution in Bangladesh — obstacles that are not as severe in many other places. Below I summarize my personal observations.
1) Geographic and political isolation
The historical separation of East and West Pakistan left Bangladesh in a position where there are no powerful Muslim neighbours nearby. The possibility of neighbouring support or sanctuary is practically zero; this is our first major limitation. Fighting without nearby allies or safe havens creates extreme hardship on the battlefield.
2) Weak understanding of Tawḥīd (Oneness of God)
Roughly 70–80% of people here do not understand Tawḥīd properly. This confusion is not limited to the general public — many who call themselves Islamic activists are also unclear about core theological principles. A population that lacks a correct understanding of Tawḥīd can become an obstacle to any revolutionary movement. Even many current madrasa students are becoming involved in party-based politics that contradicts pure religious principles — that is our reality. If Tawḥīd were properly understood, divisions would be easier to avoid.
3) Lack of natural terrain for guerrilla warfare
For guerrilla warfare, mountainous hideouts are strategically important. We simply do not have enough suitable mountains here; the scarcity of shadowed, rugged shelters is a major tactical disadvantage for any prolonged insurgency.
4) Absence of neighbouring Muslim states
Bangladesh is unfortunately surrounded by powerful, often hostile forces — on one side a large India, on the other regions riven by persecution and instability. In many global hotspots, neighbouring states at times provide help or refuge; we lack that strategic benefit. Our only reliable guardian is Allah.
Given these four constraints, if we had friendly neighbouring conditions, I would oppose pursuing revolution via elections. But reality is different: today an armed uprising is effectively impossible, and democracy is not wholly safe either. Therefore, however critically I view it, pursuing a strong, principled electoral strategy seems the most realistic path at present.
Where do we begin? — My proposals
1. Mass daʿwah work — take Tawḥīd to every household. Reach people where they live.
2. Organize all Islamic forces around basic Islamic values — unite groups under core principles without sacrificing theological integrity.
3. Political participation — a strong Islamic presence in parliament is not shameful; but our purpose and policies must be honest and principled.
4. Inner strength and sacrifice — tahajjud at night, hard work by day, sincere prayers, and willingness to sacrifice are our true weapons. With Allah’s will, doors will open.
To parties such as Jamiat, Hefazat, Khilafat and others: in the coming days you must be the leaders who shoulder the burden for the olive-strewn lands of our country. Everyone must move together because we have no neighboring state to protect us — Allah alone is the guardian.
Allah may grant help from Pakistan or elsewhere; our duty is daʿwah, patience, and strengthening faith. Rather than directly confronting anyone through electoral tactics, work among the people on the foundations of Islamic fundamentals. InshāʾAllāh, South Asian politics will change dramatically.
